Yr 6 Weekly News

In Maths this week we have been revising our understanding of area and perimeter.  As well as calculating the area of rectilinear shapes we have also been calculating the area of triangles and parallelograms, making sure that we know the formulas for these calculations.  Towards the end of the week we have moved on to calculating the volume of 3d shapes.  During one lesson we had great fun experimenting with the shapes we could make using multi-link – we were all surprised by the amount of variations found within the class.

On No Pens Day Wednesday the children enjoyed a dance lesson with the Centre for Advanced Teaching of Dance.  Later they used a new computer resource called Prodigy to enhance their maths understanding.

In English we have been taking a critical look at the writing we have completed so far this year.  We have thought about improvements we could make and taken care to edit out our errors.
